What’s Hot?
• Big Bargains: This year, Red River Ski Area is offering three half-price weekends instead of two. This means the first three weekends in December, all lift tickets, group lessons, and rentals are available at a huge discount! Several lodges also participate. College Days is a great way for students to use their IDs with lift tickets only $30. Bargain Days is a great time to enjoy uncrowded slopes and discounted multiple day lift tickets. Home School Week, for the second year, the town of Red River and Red River Ski Area will roll out the red carpet for home schooled students and their families with instructional events that include skiing, snowboarding, astronomy, snowmaking, and more.
What’s New?
• For the first time, Red River Ski Area is offering snowmobile tours, two daily — one up Pioneer Canyon and an evening tour that ends with a light meal at Ski Tip. The ski area will begin taking reservations Dec. 15.
• RRSA also just made the largest
snowmaking equipment purchase in its 48-year history. This year’s additions increased acreage coverage as well as energy and water efficiency with the addition of two elevated tower guns and 20 snow sticks (bringing both totals to 10 and 50, respectively) and 10 new portable fan guns. As owner Drew Judycki always says, “Weather or not we’ve got you covered.”
• Locals Paulette and Randall Kiker
purchased Frye’s Old Town last spring and renovated inside and out. The store’s new motto is, “Where the New and Old West Meet” and it fits.
• Look for changes big and small around the town of Red River. Mayor Linda Calhoun says the town will soon have a new fire station to house a new ladder truck as well as a new heliport. Construction is also slated to begin this spring for The Peaks at Town Center with luxury condominiums and retail space on Main Street.
